David Muncy
December 12, 1959 – July 25, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Muncy, who passed away on July 25, 2026, at the age of 66, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born on December 12, 1959, in Williamson, West Virginia, David was a Master Electrician and owned and operated an electrical business in Charlotte, NC, for 30+ years. In his free time, he enjoyed people-watching, playing pool, watching sports, throwing darts, dancing, bartending, fishing, and touching the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Above all else, David cherished his family. He is survived by his loving life partner of 25 years, Ken Patterson; his biological children, David Lee (Jamie), Brian (Noi), Opal (Luke), and Courtney (Justin); and the children he loved as his own, Melissa (Bill) and Marlee (Craig). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. His greatest joy came from the time he spent with those he loved.

He also shared an unbreakable bond with his beloved little hound mix, Dolly, whose faithful companionship brought him comfort and happiness.

Beyond his family, David was blessed with a remarkable circle of friends—his “Village.” Whether through laughter, shared meals, lending a helping hand, or simply being present, his Village became an extension of his family and a testament to the kind of man he was. He leaves behind countless friends whose lives are richer because they knew him.

David once described his perfect day as being healthy, sitting on the beach, drinking cocktails, and watching the sun go down.

Though he will be deeply missed, his love, laughter, and spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him, and he is most certainly enjoying his perfect day.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date this year. Details will be announced as they become available.
