In Loving Memory of Raymond Dale "Ray" Sells

Raymond Dale "Ray" Sells, 92, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on July 26, 2026. Born on January 21, 1934, Ray lived a life marked by faith, service, and love for his family.

A proud United States Air Force Veteran, Ray faithfully served his country from 1954 to 1959. Following his military service, he dedicated 35 years to the Washington, D.C. Department of Highways and Traffic, Bridge Division, where he was known for his integrity, dependability, and strong work ethic before retiring.

Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Joyce Ann Sells, whose memory he cherished throughout the rest of his life.

He is survived by his children, Stefanie (Scott) Jacobs and Brian (Jennie) Sells; his grandchildren, Samantha (Corey) Merkel, Kristin Jacobs, Emily (Carter) Prisk, Alexis Sells, Isaac Sells, and Olivia Sells; and his great-grandchildren, Aubrielle Richter, Willarae Merkel, and Liam Prisk. To his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was lovingly known as "PopPop," a name that reflected the special place he held in their hearts.

Ray's faith was the foundation of his life. He was deeply grateful for his church family and many dear friends at Socastee Baptist Church, where he found fellowship, encouragement, and lasting friendships.

Ray will be remembered for his quiet strength, kind heart, unwavering faith, and the love he shared with everyone around him. Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in knowing he has been reunited with Joyce and is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.

His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 3, 2026 at Socastee Baptist Church, 3690 Socastee Blvd. Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
