Adel M (Murray) Fredenburg Obituary
Adel M. Fredenburg, born October 15,1939 in Schenectady, NY, to Alan D. Sr. and
Dorothy Murray, died peacefully at home in Myrtle Beach, SC with her family by her side on
May 6, 2026.
Adel was a 1958 graduate of Linton High School, Schenectady and a 1960 graduate of
Mildred Elley Business School. She became a senior stenographer for the city and county of
Schenectady. In 1977, she attended Europa School of Cosmetology and became a successful
self-employed hairdresser in Scotia for 17 years, until her early retirement in 1994 to Daytona
Beach, FL with her husband David.
She enjoyed volunteering at the Community United Methodist Church in Daytona Beach,
including during events such as the famed Daytona Bike Week, with David and then with
longtime friend Sharon Trumpler. Adel was a member of the Daughters of the American
Revolution (DAR) in Daytona and, in recent years, in Myrtle Beach. Other hobbies included
painting, poetry (a published writer), genealogy, as well as many camping trips and sailboat
excursions with her husband, David. Adel also loved listening to and attending performances
of the bands her son Marc was involved with over the years.
Adel is predeceased by her parents; love of her life, David Fredenburg; stepdaughter
Marie Fredenburg; brother Alan D. Murray, Jr.; and close cousins Beverly Bradt and Phyllis
Killeen. She is survived by her loving son, Marc Forstell; daughter-in-law Elizabeth;
grandchildren Nichole and Chad; David’s brothers and sisters-in-law; as well as many nieces,
nephews and friends throughout the country.
Special thanks to all the wonderful community members of the Socastee United
Methodist Church, who welcomed Adel as one of their own since her 2024 relocation to Myrtle
Beach. Also a heartfelt thanks to the caring employees of Agape Care Group, especially RN
Kelly, for her compassion and support over the last five months.
A service and then burial will take place on Friday May 15, 2026 at 2pm at the Woestina
