Cherie Carter Hall Obituary

Cherie Carter Hall, 85, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2024. Cherie was born March 2, 1939 in Washington DC. She graduated from St. Agnes Episcopal School in Alexandria, VA, received her BSN degree from Duke University, and her MSN degree from Northern Illinois University.


Cherie was the widow of Alvin Lee Hall, and the former wife of Stephen Goddard Carter. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa May (David), and Laurel Mann. She is survived by two sons, Neil Carter, and Nathan Carter (Sarah Spodek). Cherie was the grandmother to seven grandsons, one step grandson who preceded her in death, and 3 great grandchildren. Cherie also had a special relationship with Alvin's three children, David, Marc, and Michelle.


Cherie was dedicated to the profession of nursing her whole life and worked in the critical care and ICU departments of various hospitals. She was also employed as a nursing instructor at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois; Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio; and Coastal Carolina University and Horry-Georgetown Technical College in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Cherie retired in 1995.


A small private celebration of Cherie's life was held September 3, 2024. The family expresses their thanks to the kind and competent staff of Myrtle Beach Grove Senior Living facility and Agape Care for their care and support of Cherie.
