Christian Fredensborg Mikkelsen, Jr. (83) of Surfside Beach, South Carolina passed away peacefully at home on May 12, 2026, after a long illness.

Chris retired in 2001 from Lucent Technologies after 38 years.  Before that, he worked briefly for the Santa Fe Railroad; he really loved that job.

His charms were embellishing stories he told in his own unique, comedic style, and coloring astonishingly beautiful art later in life.  His peaceful transition was guided by the unwavering, loving care of his wife, Cathy Hill (sister-in-law), and Michelle Hill (niece).

Chris is survived by his wife, Penny Hill-Mikkelsen; his children Paula Mikkelsen (Fresno CA), William Mikkelsen (Grass Valley CA), and Christian J Mikkelsen (Fresno CA); grandchildren, Brittany, Cody, Kelsey, Christian, Sara, Shelby, and Madeline; five great grandchildren.

Christian (Mickey) is predeceased by his parents, Christian Sr and Bertha Mikkelsen; and sister, Patricia Mikkelsen-Owen.

We are so very grateful for the kindness and loving support we have received from our entire family, close friends and wonderful neighbors.

Cremation has taken place and no funeral services will be held.
