Christopher Jeffrey Dornberger, better known as “C.J.” a wonderful husband & amazing
father, beloved son, grandson and best “Bubba” big brother his family could have ever
dreamed or hoped for! He loved being a family-man! CJ cared for, looked over & helped
anyone & everyone he could with great enthusiasm! His beautiful wife, amazing
children, family & friends were his joy. His warmth & kindness, beaming smile,
charismatic charm, and spirit for life touched every soul, warmed every heart & lit up
every person he met.
Growing up in a small hometown in Southwestern, NY he was an avid Pittsburgh
Steelers fan. From a small boy he always enjoyed the outdoors, sports, car shows, hot
rods & fishing with his “Pa.” With his childhood friends, playing baseball, soccer &
skiing. At age 10 he traded in the snow & skis he loved so much, for the sun, sand &
surf boards of Surfside Beach, SC. The better weather allowed him to play year round
travel soccer (OSSOC) where he met some of his best & closest friends, including his
closest friend Richard Bischoff with whom he shared hours of surfing and soccer. If CJ
wasn’t on the soccer field, the waves were calling his name! He was a member of
Surfside Presbyterian Church where he was very involved with the youth group, grew to
love Jesus and went on missions trips.
He graduated from Socastee High School where he played soccer & received many
awards. Accepting a scholarship from Erskine College he continued his soccer career in
SC. Taking a break from college, he became a personal trainer, which gave him an
opportunity to also pursue modeling & acting, which he immensely enjoyed. His acting
resume included Talladega Nights with Will Ferrell (look for the cowboy in the white hat),
One Tree Hill and other various opportunities. He completed EMT school, yet stayed
with bartending, thriving on the kindness he could share. These careers allowed him
time to continue surfing, camping, travel & soccer! His big heart and gentle soul always
looking for every opportunity to listen to, help & encourage others! Recently he found a
way to help other families reach the joy of home ownership while becoming a successful
Realtor with Blake Sloane Realty. He enjoyed taking his family on trips to visit family up
north, to the beach & water parks. He had been enjoying attending The Rock Church in
Conway where he & his wife had exchanged their promises. He loved being married,
having family & enjoyed life to its fullest every chance he got!
He will be greatly missed by many! He has left a legacy of love & service to others. Not
ever living life for himself, but for loving God, family and others! Our broken hearts &
tears of sorrow, will one day be replaced again by his great big hugs & joy filled smile
awaiting us with His Savior Jesus in heaven. Oh CJ how we look forward to that day!
Quote from his Youth Pastor Jerry Ediger
“THINK ETERNALLY!”
Living as Those Made Alive in Christ “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set
your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your
minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden
with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with
him in glory.” (Colossians 3:1-4)
