Clyde J. Sims, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones at his home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Clyde was born March 28, 1947, in Dante, Virginia. His family moved to Sandusky, OH when he was 10 years old; and he graduated from Sandusky High School in 1966. Drafted into the US Army in 1966, he was honorably discharged in 1968 as an E5 Sergeant.

In 1969, Clyde began his employment at New Departure Hyatt (Delphi) in Sandusky, OH. Throughout a span of 37 years, he turned his passion for worker’s rights into a highly respected career, starting with being elected to UAW Local 913 as a Committeeman. Clyde was then elected 4 times and served 16 yrs. as Shop Chairman of the plant; and twice earned an active role as member of the National UAW Bargaining Committee in Detroit, MI.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol (Lonsway) Sims, of Myrtle Beach, SC, two children, Dawn Sims, of Sandusky, OH and Todd Sims (wife Jade), of Amherst, OH; and three grandsons Nathan, Fisher, and Zander.

Clyde will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving, generous and loyal husband, father, and papa; and by those he worked with, as a fierce fighter and advocate for fairness and respect in the workplace.
