In Loving Memory  of  Colleen Georghiou Colleen Georghiou, a beloved member of our community, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Colleen's life was a beautiful testament to her love for flowers and animals, passions that she nurtured and shared with everyone around her.

Born on June 15, 1953 Colleen grew up in upstate New York where she developed deep appreciation for nature. Her garden was a sanctuary of vibrant blooms, where she spent countless hours tending to her flowers, finding joy and solace in their beauty. Colleen’s green thumb was well known, and her garden was often the envy of all those around her, a place where friends and family gathered to admire her handiwork. 

Colleen's love for animals was equally profound. She dedicated much of her life to rescuing and caring for stray and injured animals, whether it be a domestic pet or a-random duck, she was continuously offering them a safe haven and unconditional love. Her home was always filled with the gentle sounds of purring cats and the happy wagging of dogs’ tails, each one a testament to her compassion and kindness.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Procopis Georghiou; her son Savaki Georghiou; her 5 grandchildren; her siblings Gerald, Kathy and Sherri Hughes. Preceded by her beloved son Procopis Georghiou and brothers Randy and Brian Hughes. Colleen's family will forever cherish the memories of their time spent in her garden and the lessons of love and empathy she imparted. She is also remembered by her many furry friends, who found a true friend in her.

A celebration of Colleen's life will be held on November 3, 2024, at 4 o'clock Myrtle Beach State Park, shelter B2 where family and friends will gather to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the local animal shelter, a cause close to Colleen's heart.

Colleen's legacy of love for flowers and animals will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
