Cris Golder Obituary

Cris Stuart Golder, 62, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at his home in Murrells Inlet.

Mr. Golder was born in Alpena County, MI on January 19, 1959 to the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Lobert) Golder of Hubbard Lake. He moved to Detroit as a young man, and worked for Budget Rent-A-Car at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport for over 10 years. He later proudly graduated top of his class at the Michigan Technology Institute and landed a job at EDS (Electronic Data Systems), a division of General Motors. He married and had two children before relocating his family to Murrells Inlet, SC in 1992. There he helped launch the Andover Controls Department at Carolina Temperature Control.

Cris was a hard worker, a self-proclaimed "Jack of all trades and Master of many", and an avid boater. He loved to spend Sundays on the river with family, friends, a cooler full of cold beer, and a bucket of fried chicken. Especially in his later years, he was fond of good conversation around a warm fire. Cris could fix just about anything; and while he rarely had two nickels to rub together, he was well-known for always helping out a friend in need- and he never met a stranger. He will be missed by many.

Surviving are his children, Amber Golder (Evan Dwyer) of Richmond, VA, and Jerud Golder of Socastee, SC, and step-son Brandon Oakley of North Carolina; his siblings Wayne & Diane Golder of Ossineke, MI, Daryl & Barb Golder of Hubbard Lake, Paul & Roxanne Golder of Hubbard Lake, Brian Golder of Murrells Inlet, and Cari & Buster Peters of Grayling, MI; as well as several nieces and nephews. Beyond that are his chosen SC family: Janet Taylor, Luke Bramlett Jr, Joe & Patricia Clisham, Madonna Farrell, the Tuckers in Pickens, and many more.

He was preceded in death by his sisters Delyn and Sue Ann Golder, his wife Tambra, and step-daughter Kelly, as well as close friends Mr. Luke Bramlett Sr and Joe Nealy.

A small memorial service will be held at his favorite spot at the inlet on Friday, July 16th at 7pm, and all are welcome to attend. He will be laid to rest with his family at Salem Cemetery in Alpena County, MI on Sunday, July 18.
