Cynthia Ann (Bohanek) Zack Obituary

Cynthia A. Zack, 85, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born Cynthia Bohanek on November 11, 1940, in Carteret, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Jean Bohanek. She lived a life defined by devotion, resilience, and a deep affection for those she held dear.

She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Gene Zack; her son, Glenn Zack; and her daughter, Jennifer Zack. She was also predeceased by her loving brothers, Robert and Chester Bohanek, and by Robert’s wife, Helen. Cynthia remained exceptionally close to her brothers throughout her life, sharing countless travels, memories, and adventures with them—bonds that shaped her life and brought her great joy. Their memories remained close to her heart throughout her life.

Cynthia is survived by her daughter, Laura Ivey (David), and her son, Brian Zack. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Brandon (Debbie), Jared (Abbie), Devon (Caroline), Tanner (Ashlyn) Lane, Sarah & DJ Ivey, Megan (Ryan) Capper, Zachary Dorer, and Connor & Kyle Zack. Her joy only grew with the arrival of her great‑grandchildren, whom she adored beyond measure: Nash, Charlie, Scarlett and Georgia Lane.

After growing up in Carteret, Cynthia and Gene eventually retired to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where they embraced the coastal lifestyle and built a warm, welcoming home for family and friends. In her earlier years, Cynthia found joy in simple pleasures—bingo nights, casino trips, and rounds of golf shared with family and neighbors. Her laughter, competitive spirit, and love of gathering people together created memories that will be cherished for generations.

Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with all those who went before her and that her spirit continues to shine brightly in all who loved her.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be planned at a later date.

Cremation Services Direct (843-651-1194) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is assisting the family with the arrangements.
