Dennis Thomas Burns Obituary

Dennis Thomas Burns, 69, of Conway, South Carolina passed away at his home Friday June 27,2025 after a long brave battle with aphasia and dementia.


Dennis was born August 19, 1955, in Poughkeepsie, New York to the late Daniel David Burns Sr. and Edna Lucille (Ruger) Wager.


Left behind to cherish Dennis’s memory is his wife Lynn Marie Bottomley Conway, SC, daughters Denise Star Burns Schenectody, NY, and Heather Jo Burns, Hyde Park, NY, stepchildren Garrett James Bottomley, Duanesburg, NY, Tori Alyssa Bottomley (Anthony Cole) Amsterdam, NY, and Kendra Bottomley, Poughkeepsie, NY. Grandson Noah Daniel Stack, Schoharie, NY, great granddaughter Marigold Elaine Stack, Schoharie, NY, step granddaughters Julianna Nevaeh Rowlison, Laylani Diane-Marie Cole, and Ka’Layah Alexis Cole, and step grandson Dashawn Michael Cole all of Amsterdam, NY. His sister Robin (Andrew) Cole, Conway, SC, stepsister Kathy (Billy) Baker, Hyde Park, NY, half sister Helen Marie McKibben, Rhinebeck, NY, and sister in-law Lisa Fowler of Conway, SC, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.


Along with his parents Dennis was preceeded in death by his brother Daniel David Burns Jr., and his stepfather Jay W. Wager of Scotia, NY.


Dennis was a proud member of the Teamsters 456; he also served 1976- 1979 as an exempt Firefighter for the city of Poughkeepsie Fire Department. He drove a tractor trailer most of his life, loved his music and listening to his wife learning to play the keyboards.


Dennis loved riding his Harley Davidson every chance he had, he was an avid fan of the New York Jets & Mets.  


Dennis will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his family and all those whom he called friends.
