Dennis J. Mortensen, 77, passed away on March 30, 2025, at Grandstrand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, SC.  Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Maria del Rosario Portuguez-Tallman.

In his early years, Dennis proudly served as Sgt. in the USMC, with two tours of duty in Vietnam from September of 1966 to September of 1972.

Dennis was a member of the American Legion, Murrells Inlet, lifetime social member of DLWB township and Port Clinton fire departments, and the Steelworkers. He enjoyed fishing and especially golf. 

In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his son, Christopher Mortensen; in-laws; Clare and Dick Stoddard; and his brother-in-law, George Stoddard.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Cathy Stoddard of West Brunswick Township, PA; daughter in law; Alicia Mortensen; grandson; Colin Mortensen of Bear Creek, PA; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Halye, and her husband, Tom; Ellen Ross, and her husband, Pete; Jayne Smith; and Sue Stoddard; brother-in-law, Richard and his wife, Kristi. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and endless friends and golf buddies.
