Dennis L. Ruehl Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dennis (Denny) Lamar Ruehl of Murrells Inlet, SC who passed away on January 17, 2026.  Prior to moving to SC, Denny was a longtime resident of Danbury, CT.  Denny was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.


He is survived by the love of his life Patricia Ruehl with whom he recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.  He is also survived by his daughters Paula Schott (William), Jamie Mendonca (Paul), Catherine Lapiana (Anthony) along with his cherished grandchildren: Jonathan Mendonca, Chase Morehouse (Rebecca), Mackenzie Born (Mason), Chelsea Kuruc (Nicholas), his four great grandchildren, Rowan & Cole Morehouse, Gianna Kuruc, Olivia Born and many loving cousins.


Denny was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lillian Ruehl, brother Eugene Ruehl, grandson Tyler Mendonca, and son-in-law William Schott.


Denny attended Danbury High School where he played football for which he was recognized with the Kiwanis award.  He worked 39 years as a lineman at Eversource before retiring and moving to South Carolina.


He spent every summer of his childhood growing up on Candlewood Lake along with his parents, brother, aunts, uncles, and cousins.  He carried on this tradition with his wife and children.  Denny had a love for boating and was an avid water skier.  He worked tirelessly so that he could provide life lasting memories for those he loved.


Denny will be remembered for his selfless nature, unwavering care for others, and his remarkable strength.  He faced health challenges over the last several years which he handled with such grace. His legacy of integrity, and love will continue to inspire his family and friends.  His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.


Funeral Services will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.
