Derik Jacob “DJ” Bohannon was born in Conway, SC on November 1, 1989.  He went to his heavenly home unexpectedly on May 26, 2025. 

He is survived by his parents Pamela Bohannon and Steve Bohannon (Dianne), his brother, Jon Bohannon; and his sister, Jennifer Marlowe-Reynolds (Doug) as well as nephews Nicholas and Evan Marlowe. 

DJ was a loving son, grandson, brother, stepbrother, cousin, and nephew.  DJ found joy in the simplest pleasures of life appreciating the beauty in the world around him often taking photos of unusual things in nature, God’s creatures, the sky and ocean.  His early passion was music which he treasured all his life.

DJ went out of his way to reach out to friends, coworkers, and random strangers to brighten their day.  He didn’t hesitate to approach and engage in conversation with those who seemed to need a listening ear.  He always wished to offer encouragement to help others feel better about themselves or their situation.

DJ always had a story to tell, a laugh to share and wanted to make everyone smile.  He thought of others before he thought of himself. 

He will be truly missed by his family and friends for all of these endearing traits that made him who he was, unforgettable.

A Celebration of Life Service for Derik Jacob “DJ” Bohannon will be held at South Strand Methodist Church on June 20, 2025, at 1pm.  The church is located at 3049 Newcastle Loop, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
