Donald James Towsey, 89, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on 1/26/2026, surrounded by family.
Don was born on 6/12/1936 in Port Royal, PA to Herman W. Towsey and Norine A. Towsey. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. from 1955-1962, where he was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal. He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, where he was a computer programmer. After retirement, he continued to stay busy by working at the Hershey Park Entertainment Resort, Penn National Race Course, and also drove a school bus for disabled children. He was very involved in many organizations to benefit disabled children, donating his time and money to these organizations, that he was very proud to be a part of. He held a lifetime membership status with the Harrisburg Forest No. 43 of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, where he was the Grand Tall Cedar in 2000. He also was a lifetime member of the Masonic Union Lodge No. 324, where he was a Past Mason. He also was a lifetime member of the Moose Fraternity of the Millerstown, PA Lodge 925, the Eastern Star and the American Legion. Outside of volunteering his time with the above organizations for a majority of his life, he also enjoyed his retirement in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he loved playing golf with his friends.
Don is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nancy Jean Towsey; his daughters: Dawn (Bryan) Rawa and Michelle (Joseph) Mancuso; his stepson, Terry (Christine) Regal; and his stepdaughter, Bonnie (Eric) Weisbord. He was very proud of his large family, which includes 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister-in-laws, Gerri Kay Towsey and Elaine Barley; and 5 nephews.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Norine Towsey; his brothers: Charles Towsey & John Towsey; his first wife of 21 years, and mother of his children, Julia Towsey; his son, Mark Towsey; his stepson, David Regal; brother-in-law, Roy Barley; and sister-in-law, Lorriane Fiester.
A Celebration of Life and the interment will be held at a later date, at the McCullochs Mills Cemetery in Honey Grove, PA.
