Dorothy (Yarborough) Brady Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Y. Brady, affectionately known to many as Dot, on May 8, 2026, at McLeod Hospice. Born on august 9, 1957, in Cumberland County, North Carolina. Dot lived a life full of love, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. She was a beacon of light, whose gentle spirit and kind heart touched everyone she met.

Dorothy was the cherished daughter of the late Gladys and Harry Yarborough. She was also predeceased by her beloved sister, Linda Yarborough, and her dear brothers, Grady and Tommie Yarborough.

Dot’s journey began in the schools of Cumberland County, where her natural curiosity and lover for drawing really showed. She carried these traits into adulthood, always drawing when she had time.

Dorothy’s legacy lives on through her daughter, Melissa Cooper, James Wallace (JJ),  and her grandchildren, Cameron Johnson, Mariah Cooper, and Leland Cooper. Her family was her joy. Dot’s love also extended to her nieces, Angela Sindab, Charlene Stone, and Laura Campbell, and her nephew, Paul Yarborough, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

To her family, her memory will forever be a guiding light, a reminder of the beauty of unconditional love and the importance of family.

As we remember Dot, she will be dearly missed but will remain forever in our hearts.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported them during this difficult time.

Dorothy Y. Brady, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, will forever be remembered and loved. As her family lovingly expresses, she is “Forever in our Hearts.”

       The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy Kingdom come,

thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread,

And forgive us our trespasses,

As we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation,

But deliver us from evil.

For thine is the kingdom,

and the power, and the glory,

forever and ever.

Amen.
