Dorothy "Dottie" L Smith

Dottie Smith passed away peacefully during the late afternoon of June 4, 2021, in Murrell’s Inlet, SC. She was 90 years old.  She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dottie was one of four children.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Edith and Lawrence, and siblings Earl Kattwinkel, Eugene Kattwinkel, and Holly Lutmer (Jones).

Dottie married John A. “Bun” Smith on May 21, 1955. Dottie and Bun moved from Cincinnati to Freehold, New Jersey in 1968. She and Bun raised their six children, and Dottie took great pride in her role as a mother.  She always attended activities and sporting events that her children were involved in.  This took a great deal of coordination, but Dottie was flawless in doing so. Upon retirement, Dottie and Bun relocated to Pawley’s Island, SC in 1995.  They enjoyed many years of family and friends coming to visit them. Along with new friends, they continued close friendships with several couples who had also relocated from Freehold to the Pawley’s Island area.

Dottie was preceded in death by her husband, John A. “Bun” Smith, her son, Steven John Paul, her son-in-law, George Walsh, and her grandson, Steven Murawski.  She is survived by 5 children, Mark (Catherine), Sandra Murawski, Cristie Walsh, Melisa Maling (Geoffrey), and Ronald (Jeannine). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Andrew, Kayla, Elana, Andrée, Jacqueline, and Abigail.

We’ll miss you, Mom, and will love you forever and ever.
