Obituary
Douglas W. Groendyke, 79, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away on May 10, 2023 at Embrace Hospice House with family by his side.
Doug was born in Patterson, NJ to the late William and Emma Groendyke. He will joyfully be reunited in heaven with his late wife: Carla L. Groendyke.
He is survived by his children: Douglas B. Groendyke, Renee Ackley, and Rebecca Bruce; Grand Children: Chelsea Gainer, Brookelynn Bruce, Madison Bruce, and Richard Ackley; six great grandchildren; and brother William Groendyke.
Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and longtime partner Sheila Clark, playing cards with his friends, watching Andy Griffith, going to Garden City Pier to listen to karaoke as well as Huntington State Park, and helping within his community.
He will be remembered for his wittiness, being stubborn (oh, so stubborn), and always cutting up. Doug will be greatly missed not only by his family but close friends as well.
