Earl E. Hadaway Jr., 83, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. Born on September 26, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Earl E. Hadaway Sr. and Dorothy Knight Hadaway. Earl was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Arnold, Lee Arnold, and Leo Hadaway, and his sister, Janet Arnold.
Earl is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Martha Hadaway (Tetso), and their three children, Earl Hadaway III, Vicktoria Powers, and Leah Hadaway. He was a proud and active grandfather to his 7 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Carolyn Arnold and Ethel Clark, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Earl dedicated his life to his work as a truck driver, hauling cars for Nu Car Carriers and Lease Way throughout the Baltimore area. Known for his strong work ethic and reliability, he built a long and respected career. In retirement, Earl and his beloved wife relocated to the Myrtle Beach area, later settling in Conway, where they continued to build a life filled with family, friendship, good food, and cherished traditions.
A devoted sports fan, Earl rarely missed a game of the Baltimore Orioles and was an enthusiastic supporter of Ravens football, often hosting lively watch parties. He was known for his warm hospitality—especially his famous garlic pretzels—and his love of cooking. His wife lovingly referred to him as “her King.”
Earl was a passionate supporter of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, reflecting his deep appreciation for service and sacrifice. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Earl’s memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
A celebration of life will be held in Maryland at a later date, with interment to follow at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Brooklyn Park, Maryland.
