Edith Rose Obituary

Edith Arvena Rose, passed away at her residence on Sunday, June 14, 200 at 83 years of age. She was welcomed to Heaven by her late parents, Theodore and Jettie (Barnes) Johnson and her late siblings, EvelinaTeele, Kenneth Johnson and Loretta "Tootsie" Rowe.  Edith Rose was born in Tupelo, OK on December 18, 1936  She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Richard Lee Rose; three sons and two daughters-in-aw, Richard Dale Rose and wife Maureen, Mary Anthony Rose and wife, Rebecca, Desmon Lee Rose and wife Diana and one daughter, Brooke Ashley Rose; one brother, Desmon Johnson and two sisters, Elizabeth Mary Foley and Vera Mae Browning.

Edith was a devoted grandmother to seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.  She also leaves numerous other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.  At 20 years of age, Edith met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Rose in Santa Anna CA and after a whirlwind romance they were married on November 9, 1957.  They lived a joy-filled life of adventure, cross-country motorcycle trips, building several homes together, watching their boys play ball, family camping trips and sunning on the beach.  Dick and Edith's loving devotion to each other was exemplary and their spark never faded throughout their 62 years of marriage.  Richard expressed his live and dedication by faithfully caring for Edith throughout the sunset years of her life.  She dearly loved her church families at Victory Baptist Church and Socastee Baptist Church.  She worked for many years as a waitress at the Tropical Seas Hotel and at Paradise Pancake & Omelette House where she was loved and favored by her employers and coworkers.

Edith spent the final hours of her time on this earth surrounded by family and friends.  As she entered Heaven's gates, her loved ones waved "see you later" with tearful songs of praise and celebration of God's eternal healing of her body and soul.

There was never a kinder, more caring, selfless and loyal heart than hers.  Edith's love for God navigated every aspect of her life.  Her radiant smile and endearing sweet giggles always brought joy to those around her and her eyes always twinkled with a sparkle of love.  Her words were always governed by wisdom, understanding and affection and her hands were always busy preparing delicious pies, pastries and candies to bring delight to those she loved.  Her door was continuously open to visitors who were made to feel at home....Symbolic of her beautiful, giving heart.

She is beloved, treasured and honored by all who have the blessing of calling her family or friend.  Even as the sun was setting on her beautiful life, she sought to are for those around hr.  What a sunrise she must be experiencing on the other side of these earthly shadows.  A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 27, 2020 at Victory Baptist Church.
