Gary F. Lucas

GARY F. LUCAS, 71, of Pawley’s Island, passed away on February 19, 2021 of heart failure. Born in Miami in 1949, Gary was the youngest child and only son to Archie and Betty Lucas, who precede him in death.

            He is survived by his two sisters, Judy Parrish and husband Don of Arizona and Virginia Miller and husband Tom of Florida. He is also survived by his three sons, Gary E. Lucas and his wife Lori of Greenville, SC; Matthew G. Lucas and his wife Bella of Anchorage, AK and James H. Lucas and his wife Sarah of Arvada, CO. He is further survived by five grandsons and one granddaughter as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Gary was an accomplished wildlife photographer, with exhibits of his work displayed throughout the region. He was also an author of four mystery novels as well as a collection of short stories. Prior to this, Gary worked in advertising, with numerous clients ranging from Personnel Pool of America to the Miami Dolphins. A lover of the outdoors, Gary was especially fond of fishing, sailing and exploring and photographing the landscape, flora and fauna of the coast.
