George Stanley Vick Obituary

George Stanley Vick, a devoted family man and lifelong steward of the natural world, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on May 20, 2025. He was 75 years old.

Stanley proudly served as a Game Warden with the Department of Natural Resources, dedicating his career to the protection and preservation of wildlife and the natural environment. His work was more than a job--it was a calling. Known for his integrity, deep knowledge of the outdoors, and unwavering commitment to conservation, Stanley earned the respect of colleagues, landowners, and outdoor enthusiasts alike. His efforts left a lasting mark on the landscapes he loved and safeguarded.

After his retirement, Stanley took on another passion, working with Waccamaw area schools and ultimately Waccamaw High School. On any given day, Stanley could be found walking the hall helping students, working at numerous athletic events, prepping athletic fields for upcoming competitions, but his love was Waccamaw baseball.

Stanley was the son of the late Oscar and Barbara (Babs) Vick, of Georgetown. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Oscar N. Vick III of Charleston.

For 38 wonderful years, Stanley was the cherished husband of Margaret “Mardy” Vick. Together they shared a life rich in love, laughter, and partnership. He was a proud and devoted father to Sean (Vaughn), John Michael (Amanda), and Tyler (Brittany), and a loving grandfather to Duncan, Trent, Briley, and Barrett. His family was one of his greatest joys, and his legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Stanley will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm heart, and the fact that he never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

A celebration of Stanley’s life will be held at Waccamaw High School Auditorium in Pawleys Island on Friday, May 30th at 3 pm, where friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor a life well-lived. The family will receive friends after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Stanley’s memory may be made to Harry Hampton Wildlife Fund (https://hamptonwildlifefund.org P.O. Box 2641 Columbia, SC 29202).
