It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Howard G. Jones of Loris, South Carolina, who peacefully departed this life on Friday, May 22, 2026, surrounded by the love of family, friends, and cherished memories.

Howard was a man known for his strength, humor, unwavering love for his family, and a personality that could light up any room. Affectionately known as “Uncle Howard” and lovingly called “The House of Plenty,” he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, wisdom, love, and unforgettable moments that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

After retiring to Loris, South Carolina, Howard found great joy in the simple things that brought him peace—gardening, fishing, feeding his animals, and caring for his community. Howard was especially known for his incredible garden and for feeding not just his family, but anyone in the community who needed a meal, a conversation, or simply a place to feel welcomed. His home was a place of warmth, laughter, and abundance, which made his nickname, “The House of Plenty,” all the more fitting.

Howard was preceded in death by his loving parents, Jeffery Lee Jones and Essie Mae Lane; his beloved son, Bernard Miles, son of Annie Miles-Jackson; and his cherished mother-in-law and father-in-law, Betty and Ladell Moody.

Howard leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Carolyn Moody-Jones; his children, Kimberly Watts, James Strokes, Kenderick Rouse, Tammy Jones, Howard Jones, and Dominique Jones; his special children, whom he loved dearly, Toisha Lane-Rivers, Johnnie Lane Jr., Jermaine Moody, Jan’el Moody, Sytuana Williams, Gary Moody, Raymond Moody Jr., and Tiffany Johnson; and his surviving siblings, Carrie Martin and Johnnie Lane Sr.

He also leaves behind his cherished special friends, Priscilla Rascoe, Steve Greene, Frank Crank, and Terell Billings, along with the entire Bayboro community, who loved and embraced him as family.

Howard also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were forever touched by his love, laughter, wisdom, and generosity.
