Irene Wurst of North Myrtle Beach (a child of the King), went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 16, 2026. She was 87. Irene lived her life always saying/believing, "This is the day the Lord has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24). Irene was actively battling breast cancer for 6 months and made it through 10 chemo treatments with a smile; happy for a possible cure. Her faith had no bounds, although she did incur many hospitalizations, she chose to fight.

Irene was predeceased by her beloved husband, James Wurst Sr. of 65 years. Also predeceased was her endeared son, Richard J. Wurst. She is survived by her 4 children, Deborah Transue (Vard), James Wurst Jr. (Kathy), David Wurst (Jennifer), Susan Marshall (Mike), along with 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Irene’s loved ones are ever thankful for her church family who stood by her in faith, and all the doctors, nurses and care teams marching with her.
