James Phillip Sanders II, age 52, passed away peacefully October 30th, 2023.
Born in Conway, James possessed a multitude of friends and family who loved him for his “goofball” spirit. Having spent most of his career surrounded by cars, he worked for many years at Palmetto Chevrolet as well as at his own body shop. Above all, James loved his wife and family dearly; as well as NASCAR races, music of all kinds, and the river. In the words of his favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd song, Mr. Sanders is free as a bird now.
Mr. Sanders was predeceased by his loving mother, Linda Floyd Sanders, and his brother, Jonathan Linwood Sanders. He is survived by his father, James P. Sanders Sr; his wife of many years, Wendy Renee Sanders; his children, Jesse Travis Sanders and Krisda Elizabeth Sanders; and a four-legged sidekick, Smokee.
"Heaven.. the promise that the person isn't gone forever, that my prayers are reaching them, that the love I have for them meets them where my hands can't. I was chosen to love them. I was chosen to lose them because God knew I would still make something of their love. The love I had and still have for them is making the world a softer place. Every smile I give a stranger, every bird I feed on my morning walk, every hug I give to someone who's still living; this is my greatest evidence. Yes, someone loved me once. Yes, they walked with me here once and I look for their footsteps still. Yes, I dream them back all the time. Yes, they made the world bearable, and I will too. I’ll do for others what they did for me with all the love they left behind. "
The family will hold a private service.
