Janet was a resilient and strong woman, qualities that shined brightly during her final years. In June 2020, she was diagnosed with Her+, Hormone Negative breast cancer. She went through Chemotherapy, then had a lumpectomy in Nov 2020 followed by Chemotherapy again. She was considered to have no evidence of disease. Then in Jan 2022 she was diagnosed again with breast cancer, this time it was triple negative breast cancer. In Feb 2022 she underwent chemotherapy again. Then in Aug 2022 she had a double mastectomy. Through 2022 and 2023 she underwent Chemotherapy and Radiation Therapy, then in 2023 they determined the cancer had metastases to her chest wall. In August 2024 she had found out it had metastasized to 10 spots on her brain and 3 on her liver as well as the chest wall and lung metastases that was already known. She came home on Hospice on August 29th and was surrounded by friends and family her last two weeks on this earth. Throughout her battle she never complained and continued to fight day in and out to spend as much time as she could with her family and grandchildren.
Janet graduated from Norristown High School and later attended the University of Phoenix. She dedicated over 26 years to her career at Synthes USA in various roles, including customer service and sales administration. Her work allowed her to travel extensively, fostering numerous friendships along the way. She also worked for many years at Simpson Paper Co.
Outside of work, Janet cherished her time at the beach or pool, enjoyed relaxing with a nice glass of wine, and loved snuggling with her dog, Snickers. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She is survived by her daughters, Nicole Barnes (Daniel) and Emily Elkins; son, Matthew Elkins; mother, Gloria V. Manazer; sister, Karen Manazer; and nine grandchildren. Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert D. Elkins Sr., and her father, Charles L. Manazer.
