Jayne Frances Mason Obituary

Jayne Mason of Little River, SC passed away on November 6 at age 82 after a long struggle with Multiple System Atrophy a rare neurodegenerative disorder.  She was born on September 2, 1943, in Tacoma Park, MD.

Jayne was a vibrant and dedicated member of her community and the Trinity United Methodist Church of North Myrtle Beach, SC.  She always gave of herself to others and helped feed more than 50 vets each month at the church.  She also was a terrific singer and dancer throughout her life and entertained the US troops on USO tours at facilities throughout the Northeast, the Panama Canal Zone, and the Caribbean, and later with the US Naval Academy Band.  She had a decorated professional career in television and radio advertising. Through all of this, her real passion was shag, the official dance of South Carolina.  She was elected a Living Legend of Shag and The Shag Hall of Fame. Jayne was an ardent and active gardener who adored her dogs and cat.

Jayne is survived by her sons Michael Lawless and his wife Laura, and son Craig Lawless and his wife Audrey, all of Leesburg, VA, as well as her granddaughters Sarah Katherine Lawless and Mason Lawless and grandsons Michael James Lawless and Robert Lawless.

She is also survived by her special friend Gary Kullberg of Wilmington, NC.  Jayne’s warmth, humor, dedication and beliefs in her family, friends and church leave a lasting legacy that will be honored in Celebration of Life to be scheduled at a future date in January 2026.

Memorial donations will also be announced later.

Cremation Services Direct of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is assisting the family with the arrangements.
