Gerald “Jerry” P. Couturier, age 75, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, entered the beautiful gates of Heaven on October 19th, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family in the home that he loved.
Jerry was born June 7th, 1948, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Mr. Rene’ and Mrs. Gertrude (Martin) Couturier.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy are his wife of 41 years, Linda B. Couturier, daughter Lisa Couturier Riley, son David R. Couturier, daughter-in-law Gina P. Couturier; five grandchildren: Nicholle M. Dinunzio and husband Daniel; Danielle R. Gallo and husband Nicholas; Sierra M. Couturier Johnston and husband Aaron; Zachary D. Couturier; Codi M. Couturier; seven great-grandchildren; Jacob, Hailey, Adalyn, Davina, Aubrey, Caleb, and a 7th great-grandchild arriving in November.
The 4th child of 10 ten children, he will join his parents, brothers and sister as our Guardian Angel in Heaven: Simone Couturier Brimberry, Marcel Couturier, Jeannot Couturier and Renald Couturier. He leaves behind his loving siblings Lynda Couturier Alfano, Guildo Couturier, Marie Couturier Rotondo, Joan Couturier Lyon, Gerard Couturier and their spouses. He also leaves behind his sisters-in-law Dorothy Garfield, Ilene Segal and her husband. Many nieces, nephews, his devoted fur babies and the mother of his children will also hold his memory.
Born and raised in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada, at an early age, he worked with his father as a lumberjack. As a young adult, he moved to the United States and worked in a shoe factory and a typewriter manufacturer. He was a truck driver for 30 years. He loved exploring the open road and the beauty of the United States and Canada with his wife by his side. He was a master craftsman, architect and engineer. He built anything out of everything; woodworking, machinery, medical x-ray equipment, interior/exterior finishes. His passion of woodworking; designing, building and crafting custom built one-of-a-kind furniture pieces was unapparelled. There was nothing he couldn’t do, make or build.
A family man through and through, he was the life of the party in any room he was in, especially in his garage. The love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many family members and friends were immeasurable. They all brought him great love and joy. He has forever left an imprint on our hearts. Jerry lived life to the absolute fullest and will be missed greatly. His memory will be treasured forever.
We would like to thank his amazing Hospice healthcare team, especially his nurse Hanna who he came to love. She provided comfort, laughter, love and light during his long and difficult cancer journey.
