John Edward Hatzenbuehler, III
On December 27, 2025, John, 81, passed away peacefully at home shortly after an aggressive lung cancer diagnosis. He was born in Palestine, TX and later moved to Houston, TX with his family.
He lived life fully starting with his adult life in the US Army, serving in Vietnam as a helicopter maintenance engineer. After leaving the Army he worked for several companies honing his electronics and technical skills. In 1994 he started his own company, Drive Thru & Commercial Sound, installing audio and video systems for commercial & retail establishments, and installation and repair of drive thru systems for many restaurants in the Houston area. John had many loyal customers through the years. He slowed it down in 2020 but could not retire completely because he loved his customers and the work he did. He finally closed it down in July 2024 and moved with his wife to South Carolina to be close to their daughter and family. John never met a stranger and had many lifelong friends. John was happiest while camping, fishing and boating, dancing with his wife of 40 years, listening to music of all genres, and tinkering with electronics. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, John E Jr, his mother, Bonnie, and 2 sisters, Pam Burgess and Nan Helmcamp.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, his daughter, Stacey Jones (Paul), 2 grandsons, John (Madison) and Rowl (Madison), great granddaughter, Madilyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
