Joseph Millard James, 82, of Myrtle Beach, SC passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025. Formally of Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Clarence M. James and Ruby (Bryant) James.
Joseph had many hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, dancing, and motorcycling. He was also on the Bi-Polar Rollers bowling league at Sundown in Surfside Beach.
Brother Joseph James was a Third-Degree Master Mason of 10 years in the Murrells Inlet Lodge AFM #368 and a Noble of Omar Shrine Center in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He was the past President and member of the Omar Harley Riders Shrine Unit in Horry County. “Nothing Dies, Everything Lives in Eternal Peace. May his kind spirit rejoice in the Heavenly Kingdom of the Lord”.
Joseph was a lifetime member of Plaza Road Baptist Church. He graduated Class of 1961 from Grainger High School and was a machinist at Consolidated Engravers for 22 years in Charlotte, NC. Joseph retired from Air Comfort Heating and Cooling of Myrtle Beach, SC after 14 years.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his daughters, Cindy (James) Hoag, and Marie (James) Poovey; and his grandson, Steven Tyler James.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn James (CJ) of Myrtle Beach, SC; sister, Sylvia Smith (John) of Matthews, NC; children, David James (Theresa) of Rochester, IN, Sharon Mills (John) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jimmy James (Patty) of Iron Station, NC; 16 grandchildren; Preston, Joseph, Scott, Cassie, Kathy Jo, Cody, Evie, Amanda, Brittany, Tommy, Maggie, Breanna, David, Chrissy, and Melissa; 14 great grands; Shyann, Bubba, Johnny, Matthew, Dylan, Koumari, Kouvaris, Janine, Lizzy, Hailey, Tyler, Hayden, Khloe, and Lillith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 2, 2025, from 2pm-4pm, at 155 Woodlake Dr, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
