It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Mary Tacca on June 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of her dear family.

Daughter of Hugo and Marie Kallmeyer, Karen spent most of her life in Mahopac, NY before retiring to Little River, SC. Karen was a devoted mother to her children, Julee (Manny) and Christopher (Marina), and a proud grandmother to her three grandsons, Parker, Jackson, and Eli. Her love for her grandchildren knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with them. 

Karen shared a deep, loving bond with her partner Doug, with whom she enjoyed many years of happiness. Together, they created countless memories, filled with laughter, companionship, and mutual respect.  Their passion for sailing and fishing brought them closer, as they found joy on the open waters and in each other’s company. Doug was her best friend in every sense, and their shared love for life, the sea, and one another defined the special bond they had.

Karen’s independent spirit and fierce determination led her through life with unrelenting strength. She approached each day with confidence and conviction, and her boldness left an impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived life on her own terms, inspiring those around her with her unwavering authenticity and passion for the things that mattered most.

Karen will be missed dearly, but her legacy of love, independence, and strength will live on in her children, grandchildren, and all who loved her.
