Katherine Michele Pickering (52) went to be with the Lord on September 15, 2023. Born to Paul and JoAnn Pickering on April 24, 1971. Kathy had a good start to life when she was born on the same date as her older brother Doug. Kathy never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel good about themselves. Being the baby of the family Kathy played the game of life to the fullest! After completing high school at George Washington High School, she continued her education at Marshall University. Love became her priority, and she followed her fiancée to Charleston, SC where she got married and had a very successful medical business career. She loved the beach, and her home was always open to visitors, family and friends. If you couldn’t find Kathy at home, she was probably at the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms having a cold drink and listening to music with her friends. If not there then for sure she was at Reds watching the boats and having the sizzling shrimp appetizer with extra bread and a grouper sandwich. Kathy was special! She touched many people's lives, and she was loved by many. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. She can now be rejoined with her father Paul in heaven. This world just lost a very special person!
Katherine is survived by her mother JoAnn, Her brothers Doug and Jeff and her sister Ann. She is walking in heaven with her dad Paul. There will be a memorial service in Charleston, SC and Charleston, WV. Details will be posted on her Facebook account.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local Animal Humane Association. Kathy loved her dogs and if we can save one then that will be one life saved!
In Loving Memory of Katherine Michele Pickering
God looked around his garden.
And found an empty space.
He then looked down upon the earth.
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you.
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful.
He always takes the best.
He saw the road was getting rough.
And the hills were hard to climb.
So, he closed your weary eyelids.
And whispered, “Peace be thine.”
It broke our hearts to lose you.
But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day that God called you home.
