Kyle Rembert Rogers Obituary

AUGUST 2024:

Kyle Rembert Rogers lives as a self-described modern-day recluse. Others who know him, however, called him amiable, outgoing, friendly and like his mother, he never met a stranger. He was a Marine and applies order in his simple Kyle-designed and maintained life.  He rejected his definitions of the mainstream years ago eschewing dependency on technical pursuits choosing to do without phones, cars, televisions, but does allow himself the company of radio talk shows, sports and a deep library of readings. He spends days with his music, playing multi-instruments, singing his original songs from his extraordinary collection of journals filled with writings, musings and song lyrics. He chose to not take the formally trained path in music or art, embracing the natural findings as he grew.

His love is also in his execution of contemporary art of all genres, styles, colors, media, sizes, on whatever material he can find, much of which comes from the roadside or cardboard from retail store dumpsters.  Tempera, oils, often house paint allow him unlimited areas of expression and he experiments in all directions.  When not painting or blasting music from his living room/sound studio to the surprising pleasure of surrounding residents, he was riding his trail bike, or waiting for the waves to ride, enjoying his other major love in his 64-year-old life.

He does not play out, nor promote his paintings, which he gives away to admirers, preferring, maybe hoping that others will find him. And they did.

September, 2o24:

Sadly, Kyle Rembert Rogers has left the building.  His finale, calm, easy, quiet, at 1:03 AM Saturday morning the last day of summer, the 21st.  Kyle was preceded in death by his beloved Mother, Shirley Mew, and his constant companions Brindle, the dog and King, the cat.

Present with him were sister Julie Kay, nephew Daniel, Sally Z. Hare, his other mom and his dad, Jim R. Rogers.  Also surviving is brother Kip, attending in spirit with family. Daniel’s significant other, Sydney, was also present and supportive in his last days. Kyle’s body stopped working but he has left behind so much of himself that it will not be difficult to cherish his memory.  He made quite a mark in his music making, art producing, journal writing from his “studio” apartment, as evidenced by the many calls and concerns and visits from his “beach friends.”

We do not know what’s next in terms of a celebration of his life but there will be a celebration. His close surfer friends will most likely scatter him from his beloved surfboard in his ocean waves.  In the very short time, he lived with the sickness he was positive and felt like he was more than ready for the next adventure.
