Larry (Emo) Emil Tew, age 79 of Myrtle Beach, SC went home to be with The Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Born February 25, 1943, in Graham, NC, he was the son of the late William C. and Dorothy Leach Tew. Larry was a native of Haw River, NC. While in High School, he was a multisport athlete who excelled in baseball, football, and basketball. After high school, he developed a love for golf. He was also an avid Duke Blue Devils Fan. After 30 years, Larry retired from Cone Mills, where he was the Dye House Supervisor. Larry and his wife, Karen, were passionate about beach music and shag dancing. He dearly loved his rescued pets, Gidget and Lexi.
Larry was a remarkable Husband, Dad, PawPaw, and friend. He came to know and love The Lord in 2001. Larry was a humble and gentle man who loved his family and enjoyed being outnumbered by his girls. His family and friends will miss his contagious laugh.
Survived by his wife, Karen E. Tew; his children, Tammy Brokmeier and husband Dana, Gina Taylor and husband, Lee, April Wyrick, and Tristan Moffitt; and his sister, Vicki Curlee and husband, Ed.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Forestbrook Baptist Church, 2051 Forestbrook Road, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall. The service will be available on a livestream that can be found on the family’s Facebook page.
