Lee Douglas Gibbs Obituary

Lee Douglas Gibbs, Sr. passed away on March 28, 2025, peacefully at home in Conway, SC. He was 74. Lee was born October 28, 1950, in Camden, NJ, to Eva (Bowne) and Charles Leonard Gibbs.


Lee grew up in Neptune City, NJ, where he met his soulmate, Jill at the tender age of fourteen. They married in 1970. Lee was a veteran of the U.S. Naval Reserves, a teacher of auto body for over twenty years, a master auto and marine mechanic. He held a Masters Captain’s license, serving as skipper of his own boats and co-captain for others. He retired as a Journeyman HVAC Technician in 2012.


Lee was a loving father, husband, and friend to many. He was a dog lover, an avid fisherman, and a huge fan of NASCAR. He was predeceased by his brother James Gibbs.


Surviving is his dear wife Jill, children, Susan and Lee, and grandchildren Margaret, Emerson, Alexandra, and Gabriel. He also leaves behind Abbie, his beloved yellow Labrador Retriever.


A celebration of life will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
