Mary Ann Beleski Obituary

Mary Ann Beleski, formally of Huntingdon, died on November 14, 2024, at the age of 83 years.  She died at Brightwater Nursing facility in Myrtle Beach, SC.  She was born on March 19, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the daughter of James Higgins and Balance Kostrab Higgings.

Mary An is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Charles Bierbach.  She' s also survived by all her children; Michelle Beleski Matthews (Wilbert), Robert P. Beleski (Barbara Grubb), Brenda Beleski Briggs an (Phillip), and Anita Beleski Wolf (Robert Wolf).  She leaves behind eleven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, her stepson, Jeremy Benjamin Bierbach (Stefan Leenaars) of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and her sister, Aileen Gayeski who lives in Wilkes-Barre.

Mary Ann and her first husband Robert (Bob) Beleski met in Reading.  They married, moved to California, and had two of their children.  After Bob left the military, they moved back East and ended up in Huntingdon.  They were both CRNA's and worked at J. C. Blair Hospital.  They had two more children before Bob passed away in 1982. Despite the challenges, Mary Ann continued her work at J.C. Blair while raising her children.

Mary Ann was an active member of her community, organizing a hospital volleyball team that famously defeated a team sponsored by Charlie Bierbach.  This led to a fateful meeting at Katie's Bar marking the beginning of a new chapter in her life with Charlie.  They spent 42 years together, marring on February 29, 1996, a date chosen with humor to avoid yearly anniversaries.

In her forties, Mary Ann took up golf, having previously enjoyed tennis.  She was a member of Standing Stone Golf Course, Scotch Valley Golf Course, and Barefoot Golf Course in North Myrtle Beach.  She loved the outdoors, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.  Together with Charlie, she explored the United States, England, Ireland, The Netherlands, Germany, Croatia, Italy, Chile, and the Caribbean, often playing golf along the way.

In 2010, they bought a condo in North Myrtle Beach, making it their permanent home in 2020.  Mary Ann leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and cherished memories.  Though she is no longer with us in person, her spirit and memory will always remain.

There will be no public ceremony.  Those wishing to make a donation in Mary Ann's memory are encouraged to make a contribution to their local chapter of HOSPICE or Alzheimer's Association.
