With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Michael Eugene Markiewicz, who passed away on May 28th 2026. A devoted father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and friend, Michael lived a life defined by service, generosity, music, and unwavering love for his family.

 

Born in Jackson, Michigan, Michael was the beloved son of Priscilla and Eugene Markiewicz. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Kimberly Markiewicz; his brother, Bobby Markiewicz; and his son, Loren Markiewicz, whose loss he carried in his heart throughout his life.

 

Michael proudly served his country as an Army Corporal during the Vietnam War. His military service was a source of great pride, reflecting the courage, dedication, and sense of duty that characterized his life.

 

Known affectionately as “Mikie” by family and friends, Michael had a gift for bringing people together. He will be remembered for his infectious laugh, warm smile, kind heart, and beautiful singing voice. Whether sharing a song, a story, or a helping hand, he made those around him feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

 

Michael is survived by his loving daughter, Olivia Markiewicz; his cherished grandchildren, Elijah, Ashton and Maya ; and his brother, Mark Markiewicz. He also leaves behind a large circle of extended family and dear friends who will continue to celebrate his life and carry forward his legacy of compassion, friendship, and music.

 

At Michael’s request, his ashes will be returned to his beloved home state of Michigan, where he will rest among the places and memories he treasured most.

 

Though his presence will be deeply missed, Michael’s spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. His laughter, songs, and love will remain with family and friends always.
