Michele Marie McGinnis

Michele Marie (Ladouceur) McGinnis, aged 85, passed away on March 12, 2024. She was a beloved mother, wife, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her. As one of eight children, Michele was born on May 8, 1938, in Valleyfield Quebec Canada to Leandre and Yvette Ladouceur. She attended elementary and high school in Valleyfield before moving to the United States for work where she then met and married the love of her life, Robert (“Muggs”) McGinnis on May 16, 1964. They raised their family together in Cheverly, MD, and were the proud owners of “The Friendly Inn” (the local town bar and restaurant) for over 20 years where they cultivated many strong bonds of love and friendship. After selling The Friendly Inn, they retired to Myrtle Beach where they enjoyed hosting visitors, playing golf, gardening and spending time at the beach with their family.

In addition to the numerous friends whose lives Michele touched, Michele is survived by her daughter, Veralynn Morris of Frederick, MD, daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Michael Harry, Sr., of Southport, NC, daughter-in-law, Barbara McGinnis of Myrtle Beach, SC, five grandchildren, Christopher Morris, Michael Harry, Jr., Julianne Harry, Keegan Rhoades and Aidan McGinnis, and one great-granddaughter, Sully Rhoades, as well as four brothers and many nieces and nephews. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. Michele was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert McGinnis, and son, Michael McGinnis. In keeping with Michele’s wishes, there will be no funeral services, but please take the time to raise your glass and have a toast and wish Michele “bon voyage” on her new journey.
