Born April 16, 1945 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Miles and Doris Sugrue.  Miles was raised in a baseball family where his father played for a league and his uncles were his coaches. Then after his baseball days, he turned to golf and continued to play until a year before his death.  Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his sister, Judith Compton and brother-in-law, Richard Nicholson.

Surviving are his wife, Linda; daughter, Kelly; son, Sean Fisher and wife Sharon;  sister, Elaine Nicholson of Annapolis, MD; nephews, Joseph, Steven and Jack Holt all from Eastern Shores of Maryland.
