Mona Auch, 90, went home to heaven on April 4, 2021.
Mona was born in Nässjö, Småland, Sweden on January 30, 1931 and lived in Svartsjö, on Lake Mälaren. She also lived in and outside of Stockholm before crossing the Atlantic by ship at the age of 19 with her mom, Hilda Thorborg (Thora) Reuter Johansson.
She lived most of her life in Berkeley Heights, NJ raising her four children before moving to Southport, NC in 2019.
Mona worked for a Swedish American Cruise Line in NYC prior to having children. She spent time in Irvington & Bloomfield, NJ with her mom before moving to Berkeley Heights, NJ in 1957 with her husband Les (Joseph Leslie Auch).
Mona started nursing school in Sweden and eventually became a nurses aid at Runnells Hospital in Berkeley Heights, NJ.
Mona loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved her Faith Lutheran Church community in New Providence, NJ., and enjoyed traveling with them along with her friends at the Berkeley Heights Senior Center.
Mona’s beautiful smile, warm heart and kindness will be missed by all. Like her mom, Mona was an exceptional baker, her ‘pepparkakor’ cookies were the best!
Mona is survived by her loving children, Rosemary Petzinger of Budd Lake, NJ; Raymond Auch of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Kathleen McGrath (Gerard) of Southport, NC; grandchildren, John Petzinger (Krista) of Mount Olive, NJ; Kristi McGrath of Raleigh, NC; Tucker Auch of Charlotte, NC; Nicholas Auch of Columbia, SC; and 5 great-grandchildren, Nevin, Ema, Sailor, Charlie, and Brixton Petzinger.
In death she is reunited with her husband, Joseph Leslie Auch Jr.; her son Kevin Christopher Auch; grandchildren, Christian Jared Petzinger; Michael Joseph Petzinger.
A memorial service will be held at a future date at Faith Lutheran Church in New Providence, NJ.
