Peggy Lou Johnson, 89, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away at her home on Friday September 27, 2024, with her family by her side.

Peggy was born March 12, 1935, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, to the late Woodberry and Gertrude (Tharpe) McDowell. Peggy is survived by her two daughters Cindy Belcher (Joseph) and Susan Shannon (Allen), her brother Thomas McDowell, grandchildren Joseph Wightman, Jason Shannon, John Shannon, and Nicholas Belcher, as well as 5 great grandchildren, and a large extended family. 

Along with her parents Peggy was predeceased by her husband of 45 years Alvah Johnson, brother Woodberry McDowell Jr., sister Kate Dillard, and two daughters Linda Wightman, and Patricia Johnson. 

Peggy enjoyed serving her community through her church, hosting her family while preparing a large meal, as well as fishing off of the pier. 

A Celebration of Life Service is planned for 1pm, October 5, 2024, at the Live Oak Church located at 11331 Hwy 707, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
