Robin Byron Smith, 79, of Loris, SC, passed away on November 9, 2024.  Born in San Diego, CA, he was the son of the late Albert Clarence Smith and Bettie Anne Phillips.

Robin enjoyed anything outdoors.  Surfing, skiing, diving, cycling, running, astronomy, and just being in nature was just some of the things he enjoyed.  You could also add, rollerblading, roller-hockey, motorcycling, spear-fishing, computers, reading, martial arts, and fishing.  He was good at woodworking, mechanics, and making art.  He enjoyed time with family and pets, and would sometimes read to school children.  He was a member of the San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District, State of California Emergency Medical Technician-1. 

Robin served in the United States Army.  He was a Green Barret, and earned 2 Bronze Star Medals, along with the Army Commendation Medal, Airborne, and San Diego Lifeguard.  He was also a Retired Captain from San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District.

In addition to his parents, Robin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elaine Carol Hamilton Smith. (1947-2009). 

He is survived by his son, Douglas Smith and his daughter Kelly Spears, of Loris, SC; daughter, Robyn Smith and her children, Allison Jones, Brittney Cheatham, and Bryce Cheatham, of Palisades, WA; brother, Douglas Smith; and sisters, Dora Smith Magana, and Margaret Smith Lunsford.
