Stephen L Brunson, Jr.

On Sunday, February 21st, 2021 Stephen Lewis Brunson Jr. died surrounded by his children and former wife, Sue, at Grand Strand Medical Center.

Steve was born August 4th, 1955, in Athens, GA to Stephen Lewis “Lukie” Brunson Sr. and Betty Wade Brunson. He was the eldest of three brothers. His brothers are David (Julie) and Sam (Kim) Brunson of Florence, SC.

As a banker in Myrtle Beach, SC he married Sue McDowell in 1983. They were married for 28 years. His loving children are Stephen “Lewis” Brunson III (Jen) and grandson Colton, Christopher Lloyd Brunson, and Martha Elizabeth Holt (David).

Steve was a son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection for many years and part of the Cursillo community.  He insured his children each had their own opportunities to experience faith and provided them with the experience of Camp St. Christopher where they learned so much, met so many, and are forever grateful. Steve had a passion for competition. In his youth he competed and as an adult he coached. His passion for competition was passed down to each of his children. He was able to watch as they made their own memories.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his beloved church family, Church of the Resurrection, Surfside Beach.
