Thomas Landon Braithwaite, 87, of Myrtle Beach, passed away Friday, June 14th, 2024. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Thomas was born in Martinsburg, WV on October 5th, 1936, to the late Mamie Catherine (Hess) Braithwaite and Anthony William Braithwaite. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Clayton Braithwaite, Trammell Braithwaite, and his sisters Juanita (Braithwaite) Light, and Fennette (Braithwaite) Williams.
Thomas was a devoted career military man. He started his career with the United States Armed Forces in 1959 and retired in 1988 with Honors as a Senior Master Sergeant. He was able to travel the world while he served, presenting him with some of his fondest memories. He loved sharing these stories.
Thomas’s greatest passion was golf. He became an expert in the game as a scratch golfer. His passion for the game caused him to fall in love with Myrtle Beach, where he moved to in 1975. His career took him away from his beloved town for a brief time, but he cross-trained for a new role to work his way back to Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. Thomas was not only a great golfer, but he was a skilled bowler and pool player.
In addition to golf, he was a huge fan of the NY Yankees, the Golden State Warriors, boxing, and horse racing. Thomas was a lover of all animals, although dogs held a special place in his heart. He had many throughout his lifetime.
Thomas is survived by his loving family who will forever cherish his memory. Survivors include his wife Maricella "Marcy" Braithwaite, his daughters Tina Nicks, Natalie Braithwaite, Michelle Braithwaite, and his grandson, Brendyn Litwhiler. He did so much for his family, and they are forever grateful.
A memorial will be held at a later date to celebrate his life.
